Something else I could do is spend 25 days in December counting down my 100 best/favorite photos four at a time, spanning 2016 to 2025. Big storms, lightning, national parks, volcanoes, aurora, solar eclipse, mountains, fall colors, waterfalls, sunsets, rainbows, and even more

I had a dastardly idea while working on my next photographic weather history video. For UNPREDICTABLE I was able to put together some animated graphics and photoshopped storm images, but for this one there's a couple scenes I envision that I just can't get that way

But I can sketch them 😏

Wednesday night's aurora from northeast Ohio once the clouds finally broke, a consolation prize for missing the big one the night before. At 18mm those were some serious pillars during substorms

I'm seeing lightning signatures pop up on Nexlab GOES kinda evenly distributed around the northeast and mid-Atlantic in areas with clear weather, I wonder if that's an effect of the geomagnetic storm
