Very similar to the 51st state rhetoric in Canada and Greenland. Amazing how many Americans cannot grab the concept that some citizens of the world do not want to be Americans.

The sad fact is that 40% of Americans buy into the BS that they do not need the ROW. The American exceptionalism attitude that is propagated through all sectors of the US society will be its downfall. A whole world exists beyond your borders. #ElbowsUp

Extorting favours from countries will be very difficult with the animosity that has been built up. Destroying generational goodwill tends to have that effect. The US can no longer be trusted. This is the global message that Americans do not hear.

Generations if goodwill wiped out in a few months. With the focus on diversifying Canada’s trading partners, this relationship may never recover.
