delighted to share work from my postdoc @cshlnews.bsky.social - here, we use TurboID in maize meristems to be able to resolve CLV receptor interactions, unlocking its potential to resolve in vivo receptor interactions important for meristem signaling.

it was awesome to share my work at #zeavolution! a fun mix of maize biologists attend, which led to a lot of interesting questions and perspectives.

Yes, New College is incredibly inefficient but it also dropped 60(!) spots on the US News & World Report rankings. Not easy!
Everytime Chris Rufo is introduced as an impt voice in higher ed, remember that the one time he had a hand in running an institution has been a disaster.
Competence matters.

You'll be shocked to learn New College of Florida is on the brink of implosion just a couple of years after DeSantis engineered an extreme right-wing takeover

Fun fact: NCF's new overlords spend $134K per student (!!...the average at other FL publics is $10K) www.insidehighered.com/news/governa...
Spending Soars, Rankings Fall at New College of Florida
Student outcomes and rankings are slipping at the liberal arts college while spending is up. Critics believe the college is at risk of implosion, and some are calling for privatization.

Really stoked for this weeks’ #Zeavolution with @penlindsay.bsky.social presenting her previous work “CLAVATA receptor networks shape maize development”, got some awesome developmental speakers this semester and it looks like we’re starting off strong this week, see everyone Wednesday!

While Sagan is my fav way to end my astro course, I think Becker's choice for parting words is impeccable:

Thanks! It's the plasma membrane - I'm imaging with a stable transgenic line that contains a fluorescent protein fused to a plasma membrane protein called an aquaporin to label the cell outlines

House Minority Leader Jeffries has been speaking for nearly five hours, which buys us more time to put some last-minute pressure on Republicans.

Call your GOP representative: indivisible.org/resource/cal...

Or plan a visit to your local congressional office: www.mobilize.us/indivisible/...
TRUMP'S BIG UGLY BILL:
• Forces nearly a trillion dollars in cuts to Medicaid, the largest cut to the life-saving program ever by a factor of FOUR
• Gives ICE a larger budget than many militaries around the world
• Eliminates funding for green energy
• Strips healthcare away from 5% of Americans
• Kicks 11.8 million people off SNAP benefits
• Represents the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in US history

So: In 2017, Congress made this happen:

NIH: Proposed 22% cut --> 9% increase
NSF: Proposed 11% cut --> 4% increase
NOAA: Proposed 16% cut --> 4% increase

Obviously, 2025 is not 2017. A lot is diff now. But still:

💰 Congress, not WH, sets budgets.

📞 Public support & calls to Congress matter.

Hi! Do you want to rip your face off over the constant attacks on science in the US? Here are some actions you can take! They require varying amounts of time, repetitiveness, and sticking your neck out, so hopefully you can find something in here that’s right for you:
