I don’t remember if Ali ever writes Elsie’s *physical sensation* of low and/or high bloodsugar, and wow there are so many potential dramatic beats involved with either state, extremely palpable

Though honestly I don’t remember specifics, I’ll have to reread that one. I did like it overall!

She’s T1! I recall Elsie dumping out a glass of wine to not waste her precious insulin & that totally checks out to me. Other aspects of her secretive diabetes management…it wasn’t WRONG per se, I just remember being confused by Elsie’s logic. If I was hiding it/uninsured I’d go about it differently

If I had a nickel for every “Is that a pager?”

Sorry to hear that! 💔 It runs in my family, a lot of my relatives struggle to manage it. Constant consideration is right!

Another common T1D misunderstanding while I’m at it: it’s not about the sugar!! It all comes down to CARBS. A serving of pasta or pizza will do as much (if not more?) to affect my bloodsugar than a fistful of skittles. We can still eat all these things!! Just need to count & compensate w/insulin ok

I’ll admit upfront I don’t know very much about Type 2 diabetes treatment! That’s what ppl refer to when changing their lifestyle/diet as a means of Diabetes Prevention btw. Type 1 (used to be called “juvenile diabetes”) isn’t like that. It’s also different from gestational diabetes. Fun facts??
