Incidentally, 90% of the people I’ve ever seen be assholes on a flight were men in suits

I’ve only read The Vanishing Half and Bright Young Women, but really loved both.

I was talking to my daughter on the way home about how cool it is that the biggest family movie of the year has an ostensibly “straight” central romance played by a bi actress and a gay actor, but a shame there’s no spark between them, esp when the mutual longing in the 1st movie worked pretty well

Also feels like it created unhelpful expectations in the audience that came to this through the movie. 75% of the ppl in the theatre I was in clearly felt they were promised E and G ending up together, platonically or otherwise, and didn’t give a shit about Fiyero, esp after he turned to burlap.

I haven’t read the book but felt the same way when I saw it on stage - splitting it into its own movie emphasises all the Easter eggs and plot business that make the second act clunky and removes them from the emotion and momentum built up by the first act.

My brain, in a deep and immediate way, still thinks of the days of the week as colours (dark blue, purple, light blur, green, yellow, orange, red) because of the colour of each day card on the wall in my kindergarten.

She has a sex sweater AND a metal angry-grieving-with-the-flying-monkeys outfit. We all act like Glinda’s the vain one but sure looks like Elphaba spent those twelve tides in the woods collecting posters of herself and crafting an outfit for every messy occasion
