I'm interested in the teacher talking about the kids who learned to predict what they're going to read before they read it (and the resulting problems); that feels a lot like an order of operations problem. Start by sounding it out, sure, but if that doesn't work, try out some other tools next.

No, I'm saying that phonics is an excellent start that kids should absolutely be drilled with, but it will only get you so far in a language like English that has borrowed so extensively from other languages. By itself, they won't get why we pronounce "chief" with a tʃ sound and "chef" with ʃ.

Going with phonics first is a great start, but when it comes to English vowel sounds, it's a bit like only counting on your fingers. "A is for `apple'" is swell until you encounter words like "Argentina" or "anus". (It's lots of fun to teach ESL and work around students' L1 vowel sounds, too.)

You'd hope that the "without oversight or protections" part would worry a banker, but maybe it takes a lawyer like Paul Martin to care about liability.

Unfortunately, the minute he bellows "WOKE!", the money people wet themselves and clutch at their bankbooks, and I can sort of see their point considering how many fans just want the same comforting patterns over and over. (Is that how AI-generated music manages to chart, too?)

Brosnan-Bond and Jinx probably stayed at that Buddhist love-shack at the end of Die Another Day and they've been growing potatoes by the seaside ever since. (Samantha Bond's Moneypenny clearly retired and started a VR porn company.)

That's baffling. They were fine with multiple Bonds under Judi Dench's M, including the second one becoming a 00 agent halfway through. Just say it's a code name and move on.
Better yet, promote Naomie Harris' Moneypenny, let her lead the series for a while, and find a new "Bond" 2 or 3 movies in.

I wish it hadn't slipped into a couple of months of being a complete snorefest after that, but maybe there's someone out there who digs a marathon of James Being Sad episodes. I'm really struggling with this part of the series right now and can't wait for Windom Earle to finally show up.
