The ARM7500 is a particularly big chip. Yields on this must have been pretty bad.

There's a few more in the Sin Bin but I need to clean and mount these six first.

@hugh Funnily enough I was thinking of picking up another used or ex-corp-loan one and refurbishing it, but wasn't sure what to pick. A friend has the AMD version of the T495S.

Sucks about Framework. I have some overtime pay coming and needed to replace the X220 Of Theseus.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Used market is also an option. Though I'm not keen on how modern laptops all seem to have internal pouch LiPo's custom-sized for the chassis.

BTW if you're looking for an open hardware, repairable laptop made by a small team in berlin with no venture capital, maybe MNT Reform Next could be interesting for you: https://www.crowdsupply.com/mnt/mnt-reform-next

Also nice of them to explain how to lock your foe out of their RSGB Online account - all you need is their callsign and email address. Which are both probably on QRZ.

But it's fine, nobody reads Radcom.

I think I'm going to spend my lunch break writing a shim plugin, in the style of how the OAuth one extends Authplain.

jetbrains is far from the first company to make this particular pair of claims but it is simply, on the most fundamental level, impossible to mass-collect people’s terminal and editor contents and also not collect sensitive or personal data.

I realize they […]

screenshot: We’re now adding the option to allow the collection of detailed code‑related data pertaining to IDE activity, such as edit history, terminal usage, and your interactions with AI features. This may include code snippets, prompt text, and AI responses.

That sounds like a lot, and it is, but that’s where the real value for improvements comes from. If you allow us to collect this data, we will make sure that:

I have now spent 6 to 8 hours of my precious free time failing to get InvenTree to run. It's been about 3 hours of it not responding to HTTP requests at all, 1 hour of it redirecting to https://localhost due to a proxy misconfiguration, and another three hours of it redirecting to itself in a […]

Stories in the press this morning that people are refusing to update to Windows 11 because of the enshittification... it's XP/Vista or 7/8 all over again.

the thing I miss the most about the 2010s is having faith in the basic goodness of people
and the relentless optimism of the 2000s was just wonderful. anyone remember that? it's the new millennium, a new renaissance?

what happened to that, eh?

If you block someone from commenting on your github for asking "uh, are you using an LLM to write these answers? I said in the last reply that I'd tried that" then maybe you're the problem.

bit of an #askfedi .. Are there any CCTV / network-DVR apps which don't suck, or at least suck a little less than Frigate or Ispyagent?

I've found Ispy crashed and absolutely gobbled CPU, and Frigate (while a neat premise) is extremely hard to configure.
philpem.digipres.club.ap.brid.gy
In hindsight I should have probably expected that someone developing a CCTV platform which makes a big deal about using a Coral TPU for image recognition would be using an Artificial Idiocy chatbot to respond to Github comments.

(yes it's Frigate)

<philpem> isn't amd64 a third-party 64-bit patch on a 32-bit extension to a 16-bit enhancement of an 8-bit processor, originally derived from a 4-bit calculator chip by a 2-bit company who can't stand 1-bit of competition?

Oh. Dokuwiki Chained Authentication doesn't work with the OAuth plugin. That's going to be fun to fix.
(I have a custom auth plugin which lets the Google Search Appliance VM index the wiki)
