I used ground venison in the meat sauce too so I’m feeling very thrifty and homesteady (but not in the gross Christian trad wife kind of way)

Honestly I think a lot of people want to help but are unsure of how. Giving them concrete local resources and someone else running point and coordinating helps a lot! And this way I’m not asking pantry volunteers to do more so it helps everyone

I reached out to our school districts and local pantries to identify needs then I started posted to my own FB network and in local parent groups

If anyone wants to contribute, this is my Venmo. (Phone is 4164). You can also contribute to local pantries by visiting Feeding America and putting in your zip code to find pantries near you! Fck T*ump, Fck ICE, help kids.

My next move is supporting a local recently-unhoused family who found housing in a trailer on a family member’s property but the trailer needs much needed roof repairs before winter. I’m so thrilled to turn the rage I’ve been feeling into action. In sucky times, we can be the helpers.

We’re purchasing $1,000 worth of food for the backpacks then building Thanksgiving, Cleaning, and Hygiene kits…as well as donating $500 to a local charity that works to fill in the gaps with gift cards, fuel assistance, etc.
