For what is worth, google.cl has it labeled as “Golfo de México (Golfo de América)”. In Spanish, América is used to refer to the entire continent —from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego— rather to the United States itself. Probably a google fail,but I’ll take what I can get

Finally identified the mystery plant! It’s a grape hyacinth (muscari neglectum). Next part of the challenge: finding one by Christmas Day and/or coming up with a new present for my mom 😬

It’s sort of in the neighbourhood, but the petals are very thick and stumpy. Sadly, the plant has died. Can’t really identify it from a pic

I could literally do this all day (sorry). I feel that Asian art museums would make a killing from netsuke reproductions alone and yet here we are, bereft of little guys.
