im straight up bad at making platformer games lmao. idk how to incorporate momentum into platforming. I think the next game i make will have less platforming and more climbing /exploration / rpg elements cuz i just dont have a lot of intuition for platformer feel

New Unreal project? Gotta turn off Nanite, gotta turn off VSMs, gotta turn off Lumen, gotta turn off TSR, gotta turn off TAA, gotta turn off automatic exposure, gotta turn off texture filtering
Unreal is fine but for fuck's sake why does every experimental graphics feature have to be turned on by default. No I dont want my sky light to 'cast a shadow' how the fuck does an ambient light cast a shadow? it's like AO on top of the already existing AO. Stupid. AND it doesn't work! It artifacts

finally done with this stupid idiot job i was doing now i can fucking grind gamedev super hard. got some amazing ideas for the middle and end level. also some pretty cool new textures coming up. just overall excited to work some more on this

blender's bone orientation is represented with X and Z only, and my skeletal mesh comp is rotated -90 deg from the actual rotation, so I had to do some fucked up evil rotation math again 💔 not to mention actor-space clamp so her head doesnt start spinning 💔 jank but works

I'm just so confused as to how all the Xenoblade games can have GORGEOUS world visuals and music and just have the most mid storytelling lmao. Except a few twists that they do every now and then everything is so fucking anime. All they had to do was hire ONE writer.
