This engagement is authentic, accountable, transparent, and involves compensation and reimbursement, and education and training. Our mission is to make engaging patients, families, and care partners in research a new culture that can enhance health research, outcomes, and care experiences for all. Who is a person with lived experience? A person with lived experience (PLEX) is a person with direct experience of a health condition or interactions with the health care system. They may be a current or former UHN patient, family member, or care partner. What is PLEX engagement in research? PLEX engagement in research (PER) is the active, meaningful, and collaborative interaction between people with lived experience (PLEX) and scientists across all stages of the research process (plan, do, and share). Research decision making is guided by PLEX contributions as partners, recognizing their experiences, perspectives, priorities, and expertise.

Event Venue - Guild Inn Estate To get to the venue: The Guildwood Go Train station is a 5-minute drive (25-minute walk) from the venue. The #116 Morningside bus stops directly on Guildwood Parkway outside of the venue (Stop is called Guild Park and Gardens East Side). Accessible parking is available and all parking at the venue is free. Wheeltrans will drop you off and pick you up at the accessible entrance at the venue.

These awards will be given to UHN research teams and PLEX who will use the funds to develop partnerships and support the early stages of PLEX engagement.
