The other thing about the seventies is that there was higher wage inflation too, so the mortgage you could just pay got easier with time even without a promotion or better job.

I thought it was a really weird place to put a shed.

I suspect the only reason the question was asked by the journalist was to set up this whole conspiracy story overnight, flood Media with it & give a floundering Kemi Badenoch an empty net even she couldn't miss at #PMQs.

All it achieved was to make UK borrowing a bit more expensive for a few hours.

When the right wingers have nothing else left they fall back on their supporters literal bloodlust.

How many PMs did the Tories have in six months?
November 12, 2025 at 2:03 PM
It seemed an odd line of attack from the party that had three PMs in less than six months.

Not very well if she takes home less than the minimum wage employees that she says have had a minimum wage increase but apparently she earns more than the MW & less than them...

Where's a farmhouse when you need one?

And Foot's "Donkey Jacket" was actually from Harrods (a gift from his wife). Meanwhile the year Johnson turned up in an even worse state than usual and placed the wreath upside down the BBC 'accidentally' ran a prior years footage where he put on a more dignified performance.

"Honour and decency"

Yep, I think I've found where the problem is.

It's one of the enamled metal pin badges. It's hard to tell but it looks like one of the ones without the year on it, so it's probably an investment that's paid for itself many times over knowing Johnson.

The phrase 'A bulldog licking piss off a nettle' springs to mind for some reason.

Yes, our media is a hot mess. However I'm optimistic this will be a decent appointment. Labour have been careful not to cut the current tenures short as the press would have been sure to present it as an attempt to bias the organisation (like they didn't for the Tories) but those terms are coming up
November 10, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Well, at least it won't be the Tories, or most especially Johnson, making the appointment.

I once saw someone come out of a shop, get in their car and drive to another space in the same carpark, get out and walk into a shop there rather than walk a few yards... Mind you, that was in Texas.

The Tories packed it with right wingers and now it's backfired on them.

It goes back to Thatcher in the seventies, the unions brought down the Tory government before hers so she came in spoiling for a fight, gave the Police a pay rise the Labour gig had admited they deserved but couldn't afford to give them and used them as uniformed strike breakers, then came Murdoch..
November 9, 2025 at 7:09 PM
Absolutely. Keep people punching down, anything to distract from the people at the top who are actually making their lives worse.
