331. Sonic Chaos. My favourite 8 bit Sonic game. On the a game gear, it felt so far beyond the previous games, it was nuts. Plus, you could play as Tails, and Tails could fly! Before Sonic 3 on the Mega Drive? Yes. Brilliant stuff. #365games

330. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I haven’t actually beaten this Zelda game. It’s the black sheep of the Zelda family, the weird one that plays differently. But I have gained a new appreciation for it in recent years, and do plan to sit down with it properly soon. #365games

329. Jurassic Park. This Mega Drive game was a fairly average one, but I had fun with it. I liked that you could play as a velociraptor, and I liked that playing as Alan meant you got to do the river stage from the book that wasn’t in the film. Well, sort of. Not top tier, but not bad. #365games

In fact, I’ve already started. Read the first story to him this evening. Will continue reading this alongside The Hobbit to him at bedtime.

If you’re looking for some Pratchett in comic book form, this is definitely the one I would recommend.

Next up, The Witch’s Vacuum Cleaner, a short story collection I plan to read with my son.

Naturally, it’s not as good as the original novel. There are moments where it jumps from one scene to another a bit abruptly, and it is a naturally abridged version of the story (though not as much as I expected). But honestly, I loved this.

Crucially, the comic keeps Terry’s angry undertone towards the crueller aspects of organised religion. The message that religion and faith can be wonderful things, but they should never be excuses for cruelty or hatred towards others is as strong as it was in the novel.

Brutha is a softer, round character, while Vorbis is all angles and sharp edges. There’s a lovely surreality to the scenes with St Ungulant scenes, and the Death scenes look beautiful, with a colour scheme that heightens things even further. There is also some wonderful visual gags throughout.

It’s not as slavish an adaptation as the previous ones, bringing in elements from other Discworld novels, but in a really effective way. It all fits together beautifully.

It looks lovely too. Friesen’s art is quite stylised, but it works really well.

I finished the Small Gods graphic novel last night. It was delightful. Easily the best Discworld graphic novel to date (I know more are coming soon).

This one is adapted by Ray Friesen. I haven’t read any of his other stuff, though I know of his work. But he does a great job here.

328. Oddworld: Abe’s Exodus. It’s a sequel that was basically more of the same. But I was fine with that. The original Odyssey and Exodus were PS1 highlights for me. #365games

Love this one.

327. Virtua Fighter 2. Given my love for Sega arcade games, I’m surprised this is the only Virtua Fighter I’ve played. Keep your Tekkens. For me, this is the best 3D fighter of all time. Just, not the Mega Drive version. I applaud the effort, but come on. #365games

But you will get copies of the book, and, hopefully, some payment after it’s printed.

Been looking forward to this one. The art style is very different from any previous Discworld graphic nov, and I like what I see on the cover. Will it be a better adaptation? Time to find out.

I’d completely forgotten about that!
