A Space Weather/Heliophysics researcher, enjoying the scientific nomadic life, and always hunting for more Aurora experiences.
If you are a bit south of the green, look north or north east/West towards where the green is on the map. You might get to see the red aurora still as it's higher up in the sky. We've had reports of aurora seen in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and here's some from Maryland!

Amazing night! And good luck to all you aurora seekers! To nights a great night. Heard of aurora spotted in Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and then we saw it here in Maryland.

And there may be another storm tomorrow night and/or the night after so stay tuned if you miss tonight!

This shutdown, combined with NoNotWriMo (postbox.getfreewrite.com/nonotwrimo) from the folks at Freewrite, has meant I've written a bunch of posts on Substack. The 1st is out! It's a look at the paper we published earlier this year.

Two roads diverged in a yellow woods ... And neither looked well traveled, and I had time... So I took one, then came back round and took the other.

Make sure to vote today and enjoy nature's beauty. Public trails have been a key component of keeping me mentally healthy during this stressful time.

Sometimes you just need to get out and into the woods.

I hope you all are able to find your calm.

A walk in the woods is always restorative... Now if only I could have someone bring me donuts and do my laundry....

Happy Labor day (US). I hope you find it relaxing and rejuvenating. And while this day is to celebrate our laborers and their contributions to our communities, remember that you are more than your job. And you are important to our communities well beyond your job.

I hope you find peace and relaxation this labor day weekend.

I came to Europe to try to relax and recharge. But news from home follows you wherever you go. This trip I ensured that there was air conditioning. Perhaps the next I need to ensure there is no internet, cell service, or newspapers.

Some days it feels like you're fighting with windmills which may be giants... Here's to not being alone in the fight, with friends who keep you grounded

I hope that everyone has a great Friday and a restful and rejuvenating weekend.

Remembering when we found a Canadian food truck in Lisbon. Who doesn't want poutine on demand.

To those at NASA who applied for the DRP and are using the weekend to reflect before Tuesday's deadline: Take some time to step away and rest. You are supported by your colleagues, no matter your choice. You have served; you have been enough; you have given more than enough. Do what is right for you

Too often, we fail to recognize how the innovations of today built the discoveries of the past. And thus, the scientific discoveries of today will lead to innovations and technological advances of the future, way in the future... like 1000s of years in the future
