Must have been fantastic. I loved Buxton.
Would normally agree about standing but my dodgy left leg would beg to differ at the moment.

The cats were nine. I was forty five.

It would not surprise me. Luckily my two were house cats (I inherited them aged nine) so nothing dragged home as “gifts”.

I remember that noise from my two dear departed pusses. Never failed to amuse.

If I had been Kermit, I would have been very afraid.

Every date on this tour seems to have been special. What a back catalogue.

Big shout out to the Rattlesnake era B sides as well. I’ve seen him twice but 39 years apart (1984 and 2023). I think that’s my record. He did a few songs on his own the second time which were great. Also looks ridiculously healthy for his age.

Not a fan of “The Puppet”? That one is not a band favourite IIRC.

No, it sounded very “clever”. Is it any good? I also saw them support SY in Nottingham, late ‘92. Also on a bill with Belly and then at Reading ‘92.

I saw them three times in 1992 but never after.

I’d never noticed this but will listen out for it next time it gets a play. Have always loved “Stars are Stars” in particular but overall “Villiers Terrace” has always been my favourite.

Just listened to “Unholy Soul”. I enjoyed it more than The Field Mice one. Preferred the vocals and production. Sound was more coherent which is a ruddy obvious thing to say as it’s an album and not a compilation.

Enjoyed the Comsats more in 1981. “Sleep No More” and the two non album singles “Eye of the Lens” & “Do the Empty House” were their peak for me.

Yes, saw EATB/B Orchids on Heaven Up Here tour April 81 and U2/Comsats on October tour in 81. These two.

I listened to “Coastal”. Didn’t recognise any of the songs apart from “Kiss and Make Up”. Liked some of it. Some seemed in the same ballpark as East Village who I really like.

My time was them supporting Sonic Youth on the Daydream Nation tour at the Astoria in London in Oct 88. Two nights and the other night was Dinosaur Jr supporting so I was bummed at the time.

That’s a shame. I saw them together in October 1982 with the mighty Blue Orchids as well.

I am always eulogising how great The Sound were live. Saw the dubiously titled band that Mr Albini fronted after Big Black. Saw Big Dipper by default supporting The House of Love in 1988. Missed David McComb solo live (“Love of Will” is a lost classic).

Often saw fights at gigs in the early 1980’s. Equally fraught times.

Oh yes, add Fire Engines to my list.
pmpb166.bsky.social
That’s definitely a memorable one. Was it as violent as described or part of the Factory mythology?
pmpb166.bsky.social
I also read years ago it was SST wanting stupid money to return the masters. This may have been prior to the fire.

Only the once but they were great
