November Reading List 2025. Tried to make November the science fiction/fantasy month. Did ok, really like Clifford Simak. Only one more Dark Tower book to go, but it's a big'un. Michael McDowell is always amazing. I think Gilded Needles might be the last horror novel of his I haven't read.

Zootopia 2 thoughts-

Good Jason Bateman buddy cop movie, landlord Chinatown plot. Did that beaver just say threesome and four way?

The foxes first line is, “You the one who said we needed a bust.”

Is Asian people as snakes ok? Not enough reptiles, best part, more lizards. Too mammalian!

Would actually recommend Amanda Palmer’s book because she is a sociopath, it’s good self-help for neurotic people to say, “Hey I deserve something too!” A book that actively encourages daddy issues and bullying your fans. A lesson in demanding more from life; be entitled, it works!

Spent some time thinking about Neil Gaiman, trying to figure out how to reinterpret his works. First, I'm not surprised he's a creep because his first book was about Duran Duran. He forced himself into the lives of a rock band and openly advocated lying at a commencement speech. This guy parties.

War Room - Please Don’t Fight in Here. A 2025 album I’ve been enjoying, a spazzy, progressive new wave punk thing from Australia. The violin really kicks it up a notch.

It's December 1st (ugh, really?) and in a desperate attempt not to be entirely Grinchy this year I shall endeavor to share some holiday songs I genuinely enjoy, which is no small feat.

So here's the Raveonettes, who have a whole damg album that doesn't suck:

Jeremy Renner's appeal is that he seems like someone who is kind of dumb but in a very specific way.

Got a new chromebook laptop (very cheap) and tastefully adorned it with my Joanna Frank ZZZZZ sticker.

Thinking about the 1999 album Floraline, a euro disco pop album from Atlanta, Georgia, that sounds like it came from 1993 Sweden. Has a good vibe and is underrated for being such a curiosity.

The new Ursula K. Le Guin exhibition at Oregon Contemporary is a sprawling love note to Portland's most far-out visionary.

The exhibition compiles her hand-drawn maps, and features a reproduction of her NW Thurman writing room... plus doodles of cats!!

A Larger Reality: Ursula K. Le Guin isn’t a typical exhibition. Ursula Kroeber Le Guin wasn’t a typical artist. Curated by her son, Theo Downes-Le Guin, the new show installed at Oregon Contemporary i...

Watching a random episode of He Man on Prime. Can we just talk about Adam’s outfit? Furkini, lavender tights, pink vest shirt thing, long sleeve undershirt, bangs. That’s some design right there.

Udo Kier was a delight to work with, and he loved telling shocking stories to see how you'd react. When he filmed "that moment" in CIGARETTE BURNS, there was a lot of laughter on set because he was enjoying himself too much. Dude was a straight-up icon. Those eyes. Those eyes. #RIP and much love.
