the american people are actually cery progressive on the issues. look at recent ballot measures: abortion enshrined in deep red states, funding for social services, etc. liberal strategists will conveniently forget to factor this into the equation (bc they serve the donors, not the people)

this is the fundamental flaw with liberal strategy. they will only fight for what they think is politically possible, essentially “pre-compromising” with an imagined right-wing opposition. this means, of course, that the *actual* compromise consistently ends up further and further to the right
