The Christian Right's anti-abortion movement had its start in its support for segregation academies. No care for "life" - segregation.

The IRS court fight led to Bob Jones University, a notorious segregation academy, losing tax-exempt status for 17 years.

They got around public school integration by creating "segregation academies," private schools legally restricting admission to white students only.

In 1970, the IRS created a rule stripping tax-exempt status from private schools practicing racial discrimination (i.e. segregation academies).

Second, but very important:

- This action and many actions the Trump regime are taking against education are about racist right-wing retribution.

After 1954 Brown v. Board of Ed, it took another ~20 years for schools to desegregate. The whole time, southern white conservatives fought integration.

Bottom line: The challenge isn’t fear, but effectiveness. I want the next episode to focus less on hand-wringing (bc that is what apartheid trust fund 👶🏻 & his 🍊 lackey want) & more on what we can do now that my failed state prediction is rapidly coming true.
