Building @SigNozHQ - open-source Metrics, Traces and Logs in a single pane 💻 🤓
Heading to KubeCon next week with some surprises 👀

First: Olly's going to wander the venue. If he hands you an "Olly's Friend" card, bring it to Booth 1372 for a mystery box. One of them has a $5000 voucher inside.

When we started SigNoz, we wanted to build an "open" observability platform :
- Open Source
- Based on open standards (OpenTelemetry)
- Gives you flexibility to host in your infra if needed

and didn't surprise you with unpredictable bills at the end of the month

Yesterday was wild 🔥

We shipped our 100th release of SigNoz, and on the same day we hit 500 paid customers.

Completely unplanned.

Looking at the growth curve, almost all 500 came in the past 12 months.

This is what we built SigNoz for. 🚀

→ 357TB of spans ingested per month
→ >10K EC2 instances monitored
→ ~200Mbps continuous ingestion
→ 100M+ unique metrics at peak

As promised, meet our mascot Olly.

Arctic bears are known to be great at finding patterns in complex environments.

Somewhere along the way, he found a pair of orange glasses that changed everything.

Then he found us.

Showed up in the Bay Area and became the most important person on our team.

7 days to go ⏳

In exactly one week, you'll get to meet Olly in person for the first time at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America.

November 10-13 | Atlanta, GA

Booth 1372. See you there!

🚀 AI x Open Source — Bay Area community evening (Oct 22)

Open source and open standards are essential for transparency, & interoperability in the AI

We’re teaming up with Hatchet and Medplum to host an in-person meetup during Linux Foundation’s Open Source AI Week.

Agentic AI is powerful—and unpredictable. That’s why observability (and traceability) is non-negotiable.

This week our SigNoz team was invited to Nutanix HQ in Bay Area to present “Taming Agentic AI with Observability.”

🎥 Clip from the talk below.
Big thanks to the Nutanix team for hosting!

🚀 Our article on issues with LLM observability currently and the lack of standards there is in top 10 in HN.

Inspired by my conversation with Pranav from Chatwoot, it seems lots of folks are facing such issues

🤯 Recently I was present a talk in a YC CTO meetup and came back with a surprising realization that observability is still a foreign concept to even the most technical among devs

It was an Unconference talk, so I started with down all the questions which participants were asking.

LLM observability: Some companies claim you need a separate tool for it. But you don’t.

This take might be controversial in some circles, but here’s why:

🚀 Excited to share that SigNoz team will be presenting at Cloud Native x AI meetup happening at Nutanix HQ in San Jose

In this talk, we’ll show how to bring cloud-native observability practices to agentic AI using OpenTelemetry.

devops/sre friends: how fluent are you in YAML—on a scale from “2 spaces” to “tabs”? 😈

we handcrafted a cursed little trivia to make you go what-the-colon. any arcane YAML we missed?

think you cracked it? flex (or confess) your score in the comments 🤣

have a fun friday 🥳

For example, here's a dashboard from SigNoz on how you can monitor a RAG system based on LLama Index. Isn't understanding how systems you have built equally important as building that system?

We recently wrote a guide on how devs can get started with observability (attached in comments)

Crossed 23,000 Github stars over the weekend 🥳 🎉

We are continuing to define the standards in open source observability.

One feature I am particularly excited about is Trace funnels where you can analyse user journeys and conversion funnels directly from your traces,

🔥 SigNoz team is on fire! We shipped a core improvement recently, which led 30% higher log processing throughput without adding any infrastructure.

We moved from sequential to concurrent processing architecture and that have us some good perf improvement

Great to see increasing number of developers finding SigNoz's single pane observability valuable 🚀

If you are still running prom-grafana-loki stack, may be good time to check SigNoz out :)

You can either self-host it or just use SigNoz cloud

Great to see how AI-native companies like
Shaped are finding lot more value by moving from multiple, siloed tools to a single pane for observability with SigNoz 🚀

What does software engineering mean now that AI can write code?

The easy answer is that it was never about just writing code on your laptop. That part is getting automated.

The harder answer is about what’s left for engineers to do.

Founders, stop comparing your Day 1 to someone else's Year 10.

It’s a comparison you'll never win, and it's the fastest way to kill your own momentum.

When we were starting SigNoz, it was easy to look at established players and feel we were miles behind.

Observability can feel like a maze of metrics, traces, and logs, but who says it can’t be fun?

So we built DevOps Wordle. A quick, daily game to sharpen your observability skills: signoz.io/todaysdevops...

I played today’s word and got it in 4 guesses (tough one!)

I often talk with engineering leaders about their observability strategy, and the most common mistake I see is getting locked into proprietary agents.

It’s a tax on innovation.

The way out of this is to build on an open standard.

That standard is OpenTelemetry.

Most YC advice is just noise. We got into YC from India with SigNoz, and it wasn’t because of our pitch deck.

Here’s what actually matters 🧵
June 25, 2025 at 1:59 PM
Well, ikykik...
June 20, 2025 at 1:59 PM
That’s why SigNoz is open source. Devs deserve tools they can own and shape.

Feeling that pain ourselves is what keeps us going.
