The study looked at before and after designation and couldn't see any increase. But obviously post designation new development stops.

The bigger issue is that there no way to add new housing in historic districts so we are just shrinking our most accessible and high opportunity areas. It's bad! Things must change!

Too bad the compromise for r11/12 was it can't be used in historic districts. Time to get that pulled out of the mdl this budget season.

It's going to be messy, but I think Q3's city map change provisions + this will allow NYC to finally build parks and affordable housing on all the paper streets it owns. And I don't think that could happen w/o the executive holding all the strings.

I mean nearly every townhouse on the UES east of Lex was multi-family at mid-century! They've all been converted back to single-family since then (the buildings in red). Maybe we'll repeat the process again
