I worked remotely—or really at distributed companies, where everyone worked remotely—for a decade. College I went to is several states over and thus so are many of my friends. To me friendship need not be limited by location.

Mine is that empathy and compassion are crucial practices that we need much more of. When I see people on the right say that empathy is overrated or “empathy is bad actually” I find it deeply disturbing.
