Welcome to "Zines Won't Save the World (But We're Gonna Try Anyways)"! Learn what drugs are opiods, what overdose looks like, how to administer naloxone, and where to get it (in Seattle). Download and customize it to make it specific to your city. This is not only for addicts. Be safe out there!
montlakezineclub.bsky.social
@charliettea.bsky.social 's zine has life-saving opioid overdose info. It's like @meganpiont.bsky.social 's ICE zine. You can add where to get narcan in your city and leave copies all around. If you want to help save lives, Charlie has more info and files here (free): www.patreon.com/posts/what-w...

But not actually that. It really just looks like bsky decided to make a feed for Seattle politics. TBH I've been following anything that mentions "Seattle" and it's like 50% sports, 43% politics news, and 2% furries. 🦊

Cuz our mayor signed some preemptive "leave us the fuck alone" stuff this morning and there was a press conference about it. Basically requiring SPD to report to the city, not the feds, and prepping to do what Chicago did to ban ICE from using city property for staging/ops.

Hoping @mark-bray.bsky.social and his family make it to safety. I read his book last year and it's one I decided I needed to own. If you haven't read it, you should. Do it for #bannedBooksWeek and #antifascistBookclub . Thank you for your work, Dr. Bray. ✌️💪🚩🏴

I am the leader of Antifa.
Me holding a paperback copy of Mark Bray's book, "Antifa: The Anti-fascist handbook" in front of my face. My black baseball cap has a Velcro patch on it with Velcro letters that spell out "IT'S CHEAPER TO BE A GOOD PERSON"

Imho every one of his are antiTrump because Mamdani actually cares about people other than himself.

I know there's already a massive plan and tunnel and everything and this is mostly in jest, but what if we just built light rail on 3rd Ave starting at Westlake? Merge it into a tunnel at Denny.

I'm going to ignore what that would do to E/W traffic in downtown because I bike instead of drive. 🤓

As the leader of Antifa, I'm overruling you on the caricature. You can't tell me what to do! 😤

Shiny. I do try not to focus on the frustrations and growing pains because my route takes me over a bunch of infra that I've seen get progressively better over time. I notice new upgrades almost daily. eg. that expansion joint on Pine just past Minor got some fill and it's the best. :D

Jonathan Choe, the person who hit someone then ran down the street shouting to SPD about how he'd just been assaulted and SPD believed him over the people who saw it happen and cuffed the guy he hit? That Jonathan Choe? www.youtube.com/watch?v=bk-U...

💯. NYC folks see it as a point of pride to not have a driver's license, that kinda says it all. I hear DC is also good, but haven't I been.
I bike almost exclusively, but if I didn't, there'd be places in Seattle I frequent that would require either a car or several transfers and extra time.

IDK how to feel about that crossover. I get to it from the S. at Pike/Convention Pl, so I have to cross Pike 2x. I gave up and ride up Pike in the right-most lane, then merge into the bus, then bike lane. Many folks ignore the crossover altogether and keep riding on the left in the WB bike lane. 😖

Can we fine the companies when their vehicles are parked wrong instead/also? I know some of that is customers, but their employees 100% park them in stupid places and that's what this looks like. They also parked them in bike lock up areas where non-rental bikes need to be able to lock up.

I love the Troll in Fremont, but it's a bit of a trek if you're mostly downtown focused. I've only been on the underground tour once, but the guide was fantastic. Ann Hamilton's "Guests" under the pedestrian walk between Pike Place and the waterfront. Best viewed at night.

Fwiw the folks in the ER last time I was there (for a not-me-but-a-friend's scooter crash; them vs. gravity, thankfully, no cars) said they see scooter folks a lot. (Anecdotal, but still) But yeah, I wonder about the pay per time incentive making people be more reckless than is worth it. ⛑️

How do the investing folks decide about things like private equity? I understand the benefits of ROI for a fund that will need to grow over time, so this is not a sticking point, but I really hate what private equity is doing to the world. I'll look myself, but just in case y'all know meanwhile...

You know those news stories about a local kid raising money to pay off all their classmates' lunch debt? And everyone goes, "aww, what a great kid!" instead of "hold up. Lunch debt?! Thafuq?"

This is the same kind of thing.

Torn about Seattle's results because some of this is likely due to "return to work" policies and I know there are folks just in offices on virtual meetings all day when they could be home instead... But I like @kingcountymetro.bsky.social and want it to stick around so also yay. 🙃

Another month of US transit agency data is just in, and DC's WMATA remains the fastest-growing major US transit agency, with ridership up 13% compared to last year

King County Metro (Seattle) & SEPTA (Philly) have also performed well, while LA Metro & NJTransit have lost riders

Seems like they're leaning towards TX's argument, which points to the precedent of Perry vs Leeke. Judge in Villarreal didn't expressly forbid talking, so it's fine. The rec from the US goes more strict that necessary.

PS. IANAL, just a dork who reads laws. If I'm misunderstanding, do weigh in.
