Yep they shut down the very last of their Dial network 2 weeks ago. I mourned a bit. I was one of MANY who helped build it. Dial is still is used in remote areas and there are still smaller providers but these days I help build onramps to the clouds.

In my industry we have "legacy" networks. They are no longer serviced, parts aren't available, better networks have been built, customers are migrated, and we turn them down. Think Dial networks from the AOL days. We have legacy media.

Well, I know what can happen to food served to people not liked. It might be for the best. Are they staying in hotel rooms? I'm betting a lot of employees at the hotels aren't too happy with them either....

Just so we are clear. The president that signed the law requiring ERs to take all as opposed to patient dumping? Ronald Reagan. He was also the last president to grant blanket amnesty. If Christ came back to earth and had a run in with the Talibangelical like her, we'd see him being beaten by ICE.

I have the immigration fix. Let the indigenous people decide who stays and goes. I don't care if your great great great great grandpa piloted the damn Mayflower or you're the daughter of whatever revolution. They should decide who stays and goes. No grandfather clause unless they want it.

I love the national parks. My National Park Pass pays for itself. I live near Shenandoah National Park. Last time we had the 35 day gov shut down I volunteered to help clean it up. I can't begin to describe the horror of the man made mess left behind. They need to shut the gates this time.

It was my local paper for almost 20 years. I had no choice but to not renew almost a year ago. The @theatlantic.com and other news sources get my money now.
