Seems BlueSky is implementing a shadow banning/content moderation solution designed to keep authoritarian regimes happy 😬

The magic of this platform was that it had a very basic "algorithm", so you could easily curate your content, but now not all voices are equal and that's a very slippery slope 😔

And I'm really not sure if the UK government "hit back" at the Trump freak or not...or what that even means anymore

I have a small self-hosted DeepSeek instance for testing and it's not very compliant. I asked it to create a backdoor for Wordpress and it just refused and moralized instead

I'm sure I could convince it to help with a better prompt but I prefer models without alignment bias and hardcoded guidelines

An 'interesting' thing about DeepSeek-R1 is that it 'reasons' by creating a series of "thoughts" on a subject and uses themto create 'coherent' answers

When you self-host the model you can intercept its "thought" process and... 😬

One of the problems of relying on unpaid volunteers for your functionality is that things aren't going to scale or be reliable.

Maybe the owner of this feed will pay more money to upgrade their server and provide the necessary resources to keep it functioning, or maybe they won't 🤷‍♀️

Remarkably similar to the UK's demographic breakdown, as listed on Wikipedia! 😲

83.05% White
8.6% Asian
3.71% Black
2.68% Multi-Racial
1.96% Other

Just got this as a "Suggested" post on my LinkedIn timeline. It started out so hopefully and then it went to shit *so* quickly

I can't spend more than a few minutes on my LinkedIn timeline before I suffer brain melt. Saw this meme recently and finally understood why...

Are you sure it's not Brexit?

The chart from section "3. Long-term emigration" of the ONS report, (Figure 6), shows a clear drop off in British emigration at the end of the Transition Period that has since plateaued

That looks like a very clear correlation to me 🤷‍♀️

I'm setting up an LLM chatbot to serve as my 'loyal wingman' here on Bluesky. Not exactly sure what I want it to do yet, but I couldn't be happier with it's character and compliance 😀

I'm not sure, and the README isn't so explicit, but I *think* these statements imply the content will be stored on and served from the PDS

Not sure how far 20GB of storage would go, or the monthly bandwidth requirements, but they'd probably depend on how active and popular your federated users are
November 16, 2024 at 4:22 PM
Oh wow, look at those server requirements. It's literally nothing! 😲

Not sure I'd run Ubuntu 22.04 on 1 GB RAM, but you can easily get a 2GB VPS for under $3/month in the US and Europe, (or about $5/month in Asia)

I already have an idling 'micro' server and a nice domain that I'm not using so... 🤔

Inciting racial hatred is a crime in the UK, so how can it be 'utterly Orwellian' that the law of the country is being applied as intended?
