Fun Fact: Bea Wain, backed by Larry Clinton’s Orchestra, recorded the original version of the classic song Over The Rainbow in December 1938, but were blocked by MGM Studios from releasing it until after The Wizard Of Oz opened in theatres some eight months later.

Growing up, we had one of those huge Early 70s wooden floor cabinet units with a radio, turntable, speakers & a bar section for bottles, glasses etc.. One of the radio’s settings was Longwave - I remember going up & down the dial listening to Great Lakes-based beacons broadcasting Morse Code!

Yup. It was later an A-Side thanks mostly to its use in the ‘55 film The Blackboard Jungle.
