Horror: I think Sans is leaving soon, so go give him hell. I'll bring Nightmare. Hearing this, Killer, Dust and Cross peek curiously at Sans, Killer's already giggling at what he'll do to the merturtle. Killer: Hey, flippers! Sans: wha-- Killer: catch this!! Sans: ack! Horror holds to his floaty seaweed bag, watching with a smile as all his mates approach Sans.

Killer: Horror! Horror: I'm back! Killer and Dust in sync: You're back! Cross: um.. welcome back! Dream watches the proper shark greetings (and Cross trying his best but doing it wrong) with mixed feelings, still trying with the fake smile, but then he realises who else is here and his smile is back (maybe not a happy one). He turns his head to Sans and starts approaching with grabby hands. Dream: ..Sssaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaans. Sans is understandably a little terrified, but waves a hello back. Sans: h-hello, Dream! Dream locks Sans' huge neck in a tight hold with his arms and squeezes, pressing their cheeks together, in a cheerfully angry manner. Dream: What did you do to him? And how many _limbs_ do you think it'll cost you? Sans: nothing! I swear! I just let him eat my eggs...

Suddenly one of the visitor's upon Dream, who finally recognises him. Dream: oh! Hor-- Horror: Dream!!! Horror glomp-tackles Dream from great speed. He rubs his right cheek to Dreams. Horror: I'm back, sunshine! Dream: I can see that! Once the greeting rubs have been done, Dream looks more closely at Horror, raising his hand to run his fingers on Horror's head, inspecting the constant sparkles on him. Dream: How.. are you..? Horror: Feeling great! Oh! They're here too! Horror notices the sharks peeking from the rocks a small distance away. Just because they had to stay behind doesn't mean they had to stay hidden! They didn't disobey Dream! Horror swims to them. Dream: cool... Looking after Horror, Dream tries to maintain a smile, but another expression is worming in strongly.

Dream: Alright, next one- *gasp* Dream turns to look towards the source of his sudden anxiety. Cross: ..Dream? Dream pulls himself together and turns to the sharks with a gentle smile. Dream: um.. seems like we're getting visitors! Dust: .. is it Horror and Sans? Dream listens to his god-senses for a moment. Dream: ..maybe..? They're approaching very fast. Dream starts swimming toward the visitors. Dream: You stay here and let me greet them first. Killer: But-! Dream raises his hand to block any argument. Dream: Stay. Killer: aw... Dream swims away, Killer's words shout behind him "Hurry up then!". Dream thinks to himself "please, please, please, be okay..."

Back at the bottom of the sea, Dream is gingerly holding a piece of seaweed between his index finger and thumb. Dream: Ready? Dream lets go of the seaweed, it starts to slowly drift to the bottom due to gravity. Killer: he he! Killer is in a hunting position on a rock, looking at the seaweed merrily. Dust is on another rock, in a lot more relaxed position, watching the falling seaweed. Dream: steady... Cross is on a rock of his own, too, tail and butt wiggling in anticipation of the seaweed falling closeby, his eyelights are big and he's clearly most into this game. The seaweed hits the ground. Dream, Killer, Dust and Cross all shout "go!" and there's a crash. The sharks are in a big hug pile, Cross is holding the seaweed up victoriously. Cross: I got it! Killer: Way to go, Crossy! Dust: You're so good at this. *sneakily fondles Cross' chest* Dream claps his hands despite them being under water. So strong! Dream: Well done!

When Horror disappears behind another clump of seaweed nearby, Sans exhales in relief. Sans: phew! looks like all went.. better than expected! *wink* But Horror's already coming back, having put the stolen thing into the seaweed bag, with super swimming speed (his tail literally goes "brrrr") and shouts: Horror: ok I got the thing let's GOOOOOOOO!! Sans: whoa-oah!! Horror grabs Sans' shell, intending to drag him along the whole way back to get home as soon as possible.

Horror holds Sans' hand with both of his and cries and begs prettily by rubbing his cheek on Sans' knuckles and posing his tail up. Horror: I don't want to do any of those things! please just let me go back home! Sans: it's your choice, Horror! all I ask is that we go together. Horror looks up at Sans, still crying and holding his hand. Horror: w-we can just go..? Sans shrugs and smiles. Sans: yeah! I'm done here, so if you are too-- Horror: oh! There's still tears floating around Horror, but his sparkle has come back, because: Horror: the thing I stole! Sans: what. Horror dives down and snags the empty seaweed bag he dropped earlier, heading away. Horror: I hid it nearby, I'll get it! Sans: oookay.

Sans has moved behing Horror's back, and circles him with his front fins and arms. His eyelights are gone. Horror is picking on his empty eye socket in discomfort. Sans: so Horror, what do you _choose_ to do? Horror is suddenly alone, surrounded by darkness, as if this was an encounter in the game Under/tale. He looks around, hearing voices from his past. White voice: they took their fins! Horror! help! help! White voice: it hurts! it hurts so much! I'm dying! help me! Horror! White voice: Horror, where did the other adults go? White voice: I'm scared... White voice: I'm hungry... Horror is getting angry. White voice: why did they do this to us? White voice that slowly turns to Horror's voice: what did we do to deser-- Cross: Be careful! Horror is startled out of his anger.

Horror's curling up. Sans: wipe out their family and friends, even their entire species, should it please you.

Horror has eaten all of the eggs, but he still checks by holding and shaking the bottom of the bag with one hand and holding other hand below it, to catch any egg he might've missed. His earlier arm injury is gone, healed by the sparkles. Horror: aw, that was all of them. I did lo-- He finally notices his body is sparkling. He takes one long look at his hand, processing the betrayal of Sans not telling him this would happen if he ate the eggs. Horror: ...huh. He turns to look at Sans and lets go of the bag. Horror: ... Is this going to kill me? was a good last meal. Sans looks at him from the seafloor. He's not smiling. Sans: ... you're feeling stronger, right? Horror: yeah, like I could do anything. Sans: you could. Sans hops up from the seafloor.

Horror chews and looks surprised at the taste, and scoops a couple more eggs into his mouth. He swims up a bit, wagging his tail in delight. Horror: mmmmmmmm..!! ssssoooo good!! the taste of turtle is so strong, but creamy! the mild taste of the eggshell contrasts it perfectly, they just melt in the mouth! Below him Sans smiles. Sans: heh, good! would've been embarrassing if the big reward tasted gross. Horror puts his whole head into the bag and chomps away at the eggs, and then pours the last of them straight into his mouth. Every time he eats, more sparkles appear on his body. The fresh injury on his arm turns from red to blue.

Sans holds Horror's head very firmly with both hands and stares down at him in a very uncharacteristically serious way. His words hold weight as he speaks. Sans: I have so, SO many children already. you cannot even imagine how many. I do not want any more of them. Not a single one. Horror: okay. Satisfied that Horror has understood him loud and clear, Sans lets go of him and leans to the ground on one elbow, reaching for the egg bag with the other hand. He looks very tired and lets out a long sigh. Sans: it's fine if you don't want to eat them. I'll just find someone else to-- Horror: noooo! Horror pulls the bag from Sans. Horror: I want them! Horror picks up one of the cream-coloured, round eggs and admires it with a smile. Horror: They're so pretty! Like little full moons, or pearls, but soft. He throws the egg into his mouth, making a little sound.

Sans opens the bag and peeks inside. There's a lot of tiny round eggs inside. Sans: this looks like.. most of them? Horror: All of them. Sans: that's amazing!!! Sans looks happily at Horror who slowly slides next to him, pleased of the genuine praise. Sans: Horror, you're amazing. Horror: ehehe. Sans pushes the open eggbag to Horror's hands. Sans: and you've definitely earned this reward. bone appetit! Horror looks closely at Sans' expression when he does this, then holds a small speech, while some schools of fish, a shark, a sea turtle, and a plastic bag swim by their semihidden resting spot. Horror: ... you know, during this trip, I've seen and learned so many things that I wouldn't have without you. So, even if we agreed on it, you don't have to feed me your childre-- Sans: Horror. Horror gets interrupted by Sans gently wrapping his giant hands around his head and holding him so firmly his cheeks puff out. This is the first time Sans touches Horror in a way that he cannot easily escape from.

Sans is sleeping with his arms folded under him, and wakes up with a startle. Sans: ....uugh.. ah..! wha..?! He then feels a weight on his shell and turns his head around, seeing Horror resting on his shell. Horror's trying to lick his arm injury better, even though it's in an awkward place for him. They are on sandy ground surrounded by tiny hills of seaweed and schools of fish, there's sunlight so several hours has passed since we last saw these two. Horror: mmf good morning. Sans: h-Horror?! Horror points to the front of Sans. Horror: If you're looking for the eggs, they're over there. Sans turns his head around and sees the round bag that's still tied closed. Sans: they are?!

Horror swims to Sans, who's lying unconscious at the bottom of the shallow sea. He lifts him from under one arm, taking one final look that the humans are not after them, and swims away pulling Sans along the seafloor, among various human trash. There's no anger, only a sad, silent "why?"

Horror takes a moment to catch his breath, then starts hissing and makes his red eye big to intimidate the humans. Sans' front flipper is slowly sinking to the sea in the distance. Horror snaps his jaws at the nearest human's feet, causing them to lunge for safety in terror. Then Horror starts crawling towards the eggs, hissing at the second human who wisely retreats. One of the humans shouts "Es neeme lenilmu, tasaypy es!!" and the third human approaches Horror with a knife, hands shaking. Horror is tying up the egg bag when he notices this, and slaps the knife away. Horror gives one more big hiss, showing his impressive maw and many rows of teeth, and retreats to the sea with the bag. The humans stay at the beach, staring after the mershark who escaped with the eggs.

While Sans is still freaking out, Horror holds Sans' shell and exhales. He growls and supplexes Sans' shell so Sans goes flying with flips and lands face-first to the sea farm from the shore. Horror's right arm cracks and loses a little piece of bone thanks to the immense strain of this move. Sans screams as he goes, but falls silent when hitting his face. One of the humans shouts "Tami tuavit!?!".

There are three hooded and masked humans approaching from the woods to the beach. Who they are matters not as much as why they are here. Sans watches in horror and spirals himself to a panic attack. Sans: no... no no no no *huff* not again! I can't move! *huff* they'll steal my eggs! *huff* they'll take me and...! *huff* help! *huff* help! somebody help me! *huff* *huff* please!! Sans is curling up in fear, but Horror, who has been figuring out what's going on, now approaches Sans' shell. One of the humans has two big buckets, second one has a long rope, third one... we'll see later.

The egg laying continues hours into the night, we see the moon travel across the sky until the last plop of an egg. Sans: ... that was.. the last one... Horror: You're so cool, lasting this long, I can barely do 13. Can't even imagine laying 200 in a row... How are you feeling? Horror has laid sideways in the water, allowing Sans to rest his head on his stomach.

He kept asking for "uppies". So I gave him "uppies". Nightmare says as he is sipping his coffee with a pinky up and reading the paper. In the ceiling there's a Noir-shaped hole from which said skeleton peeks back down with a smile that misses a tooth. Again! Again! he shouts. Downstairs Killer is doing the skeleton version of pulling his hair and screaming at how his baby has been handled. Cross is also very distraught at what he just witnessed.

#dreammareweek day 3: Darkness and Light

Roots that dig deep for water and nutrients, leaved branches that reach high for sun and bear fruit. Both are just as important, yet one is more cherished.
Dream and Nightmare are sitting on a big root of their tree, kissing. Dream wipes a tear from Nightmare's eye. They both have wings of purple and orange colouring, Nightmare's are bare skeleton ones, like the roots behind him, Dream's are full of feathers like the branches behind him are full of leaves and fruit.
