Experimenting with using LLMs to write entire R packages from code I've written elsewhere. Here's a #eDNA package that takes sightings and compares with Aquamaps, their BLAST identities, fishbase/AFD and tells you how likely this hit is (currently only 4 categories)

In Neptune Grass beds @ Plage du Jovat, Gigaro, Brown Wrasse & Annular Seabream. Rusty Blennies in shallows. In close attendance at Snakelocks Sea Anemone what Louisy 2015 calls Bucchich's Goby but fishbase says is now more likely Incognito Goby (Gobius incognito).

Spent the day writing a fairly simple LCA script that uses WoRMS/Fishbase for the taxonomy -
once it worked, gave the script to Claude 4 and asked it to make it production ready. Claude added input data caching, better error handling, logging, and so far the results are identical. This is great

Really happy to have had a detailed answer to my fishbase habitats Q from @q-quatics.bsky.social, including the reminder that documentation is available via the glossary on the main fishbase page.
Do any fishbase users know if there is a (semi?)formal definition of their 'DemersPelag' habitat variable anywhere? For instance, are there depth limits distinguishing bathydemersal (or bathypelagic) from demersal (or pelagic)? I've been looking but so far can't find documentation.
