When Reggie got sick last year we started spoiling him really bad. But then he got better and he just expected it all the time. Now he turns his nose up at cat food and wants to eat hamburgers and pizza all the time. same, bro.

My Quark standee arrived today. I wonder how many times I'm going to get jump-scared by this in the next few weeks.

I need something to put up on this wall and I had an idea that I might hang a Bajoran flag up. After searching a lot and checking my fav creators... Turns out no one is selling a Bajoran flag online. Not even on Etsy. Might be a niche desire but something to think about @reforest-kelley.bsky.social

Hung this up over the weekend after having it leaning against the wall for like 5 years... Perhaps I should have left it leaning...

This year I started a book club with some friends where we are reading Romance and... Well smut lol. It's not a genre I ever had any interest in before but it turned out to be so much fun and it has allowed me to make a bunch of friendships. Shout out to C.M. Nascosta's Morning Glory Milking Farm!

Some stand-out books from the year. I loved R.F Kuang's Babel as a story about resisting Imperialism. Navola by Paulo Bacigalupi was gorgeous. I haven't been able to stop talking about China Mieville's The City & The City. And Refaat Alareer's If I Must Die struck me in the heart.

My New Year's Resolution last year was to read every day. It was hard at first and there were days where I only read one or two pages. But as the year went on it became easier and easier. I ended up demolishing my reading stats from last year. 52 books read this year compared to 28 last year.

Huge mistake to start reading this while I was at work. I'm already crying.

Refaat Alareer's If I Must Die: Poetry and Prose

From China Mieville's October. I've read this one paragraph a dozen times. Not embarrassed to say that I cried. I hope one day I can experience this feeling for real instead of living vicariously through Lenin.

This is wild considering I just started listening to Guys a couple months ago lol.

I like reading Romance but after a long stretch of Romantasy I started reading Navola by Paulo Bacigalupi and it is like bathing my brain in golden rays of joy. Beautifully written. Deep, complicated characters. Truly complex relationships. I don't want it to end!

I had a dream last night that Reggie broke his leg and I had to set it and get him to a pet hospital and when I woke up he was sleeping peacefully in his warming bed a few inches from my face. ❤️

It truly speaks to the absolute failure of the Democratic Party that Ohio is going to codify abortion and legalize weed on the exact same day, but they haven't gone for a Democratic presidential candidate in over a decade.

What does this kind of life do to the people who live there, psychologically? Decades of pent up grief, rage, and helplessness. Victims of endless violence. A life of indignity and immiseration that no one cares about. Being completely abandoned to daily horrors.

It's all built up to today.

I drove past UAW Local 12 in Toledo and it was jam packed. People parked on the lawn.

The UAW is going to WIN!!

If this ever happens to you you should know there is such a thing as "Promissory estoppel" which basically means you were promised something that was never delivered and suffered economic damage as a result.

You should contact an attorney to discuss whether or not you can sue.
