I got third place in a Beyblade tournament last night by some stroke of luck! Wasn’t expecting to get that high, but it’s a good feeling.

Also picked up a couple new ones today, with a photo for your viewing pleasure.

#Bentober Day 31- Arctiguana! The finale! Not an alien I have much attach to, but it’s a fun design. I drew him up in the air shooting an ice beams, with some extra snow particles and cold breath for spice. Extra thoughts summing up the project in the replies!

#Bentober day 30- Chromastone! The penultimate day! IMO he came out quite well. His design already having black shading really helped with accurately capturing it in my style, and the power effects turned out better than I expected.

#Bentober day 29- Atomix! I don’t have a lot of experience with this alien so I decided to go for some nice-looking Superman pose. I was also conflicted about shading in the bubbles, but I think it was the right choice. Enjoy!

Black and white drawing of Echo Echo from Ben 10. I wanted to show off both his cloning and sound abilities so I’ve drawn progressively smaller/far off copies all screaming to form one big attack. It was fun using progressively smaller pens and stripping back details for each further clone. I was quite tempted to draw his Ultimate variant but I decided to stick with his original form for consistency. Black and white drawing of Spidermonkey from Ben 10. I’m not sure if I got all the proportions right, but I think he still looks sufficiently freaky for what he’s meant to be. Black and white drawing of Frankenstrike from Ben 10. I tried to have some fun with the lightning effects, which included the lightning-shaped lighting on the trouser! This wasn’t my favourite design to draw, but I think it came out fairly well. Black and white drawing of Eye Guy from Ben 10. I didn’t want to draw him shooting energy as I’d just done that for Frankenstrike, so here he is just in a fairly generic action pose. I also tried to pay attention and make all his eyes point the same way.

Black and white drawing of Humungousaur from Ben 10. I tried to convey his ability to grow and become pointier, though for better or for worse it did come out looking a bit like a JoJo’s stand. I am still fairly pleased with it though. Black and white drawing of Blitzwolfer from Ben 10. I decided to go with a classic werewolf howling pose and to show off his iconic splitting mouth. Unfortunately I couldn’t incorporate the howling effects because at this scale it would mess up the face, but I think the piece still came out pretty well. Black and white drawing of Alien X from Ben 10. I really like how the cosmic effect came out, with the white shading and speckles of stars for the body and pure black background. The proportions did end up a little dodgy though. Black and white drawing of Way Big from Ben 10. In contrast to most of the other drawings I didn’t base it purely on his original appearance. My favourite design for Way Big is his UAF appearance due to its clean look working well for the Ultraman homage, so I took that and added some of the details from his other looks to make it more visually interesting while maintaining the clean look. Black and white drawing of Big Chill from Ben 10. I tried to capture his ghostly presence by having him fly through the night sky. I think the character’s mostly black body in front of the white moon looks quite nice. Black and white drawing of Swampfire from Ben 10. As this was part of the backlog I focused on the character himself, though I was tempted to add some background plants.

Black and white drawing of Goop from Ben 10 For Goop I took a bit of inspiration from Spider-man as I thought showing him swinging from stuff would be a good way to emphasise his stretching and dripping. Tried Posca markers for the first time… and I think I might enjoy physical colouring again! I’ll have to experiment with them a bit as the texture is a bit rough on my first go, but I’m excited to see how my future work might incorporate them.
