Post WWII until 1979, the marginal tax rate for the highest bracket was +-78%. And those wealthy tax payers remained wealthy.

House Minority Whip Kathryn Clark is obviously not up to the job, evidenced by the 8 who capitulated; Jeffries has proven himself an ineffectual leader by not recognizing this and replacing her. Senate Minority Schumer is equally ineffective as a leader, incapable of rallying the Senators to 1 voice

This is my theme song! I am proud to tell anyone who listens that in all my adult life i have never had a tree up in my apartment, trailer, or house.

Oh, and the millionaires didn't go poor paying those rates.

From the 50s until 1980, the marginal tax rate for those in the highest brackets was +/- 78%. Back when one man was able to afford to marry, by a house and a car, and the wife could stay home and raise the kids. Best way to MAGA would be to reinstate that tax rate.

But originally it was "swastika, noose, and confederate flags". This only mentions swastika and nooses. At least in the headline. Cuz i say fuck the confederate flag too, it is a symbol of racism.

Affordability is a terrible euphemism for "over priced". We don't need to bring affordability, we need to force corporations to bring down the prices, and if that means they lose a billion $ in profit, too fucking bad! Better they have to sell a yacht then I have to sell a kidney. #GreedKills

But what about the confederate flag?

The first viral video. I remember downloading it took all night in 1994 on a 9600 baud modem.

May I suggest Guy Gavriel Kay's fantastic trilogy "The Fionovar Tapestry" to get that Tolkien high again. As bright and beautiful as Donaldson is dark and depressing. Kay's prose is powerful and poetic. The trilogy is paradoxically unique yet familiar. Then read everything else Kay has written.

If you haven't read Donaldson's Mordant's Need (The Mirror of Her Dreams and A Man Rides Through) then you are missing out on a great read. A unique take on the use, and cost, of Magic.

Ah, that sad piano. Made me want to smash!

Saddest part is that Sam Walton was a good man, my mom worked at Walmart in the early 80s, good wage + stock shares + insurance; he refused to sell alcohol in his stores, as he thought it destroyed families and lives; he had achieved the American dream, and after death his kids made it a nightmare

Which church? The Catholic,Protestant,Methodist,Evangelical,or Christian? Mosque? Temple? What about us Atheists? Do these idiots really believe the crap they say, or are they just gaslighting us? How about Beckwith asks the church for his paycheck, rather than relying on our tax dollars? #TaxTheRich
