Open Source won.

At least that’s what where my bet is.

Open source is resilient.
Open source is adaptable.

I myself wouldn’t bet my company on a 3rd-party vendor when making fundamental technology choices.

So of course my own product also has to be open source:

Had a blast speaking about query.farm at the #DuckDB Amsterdam Meetup #3 where I had time to spend some time with my heroes @carlo.piovesan.io @samansmink.bsky.social @szarnyasg.org Tania Bogatsch and so many more awesome people! Thank You @duckdb.org for giving space to the community! #opensource

Today is exactly twelve years ago since we created the lib/http2.c source file in the #curl source tree, and doing HTTP would never be the same again.

The paradigm shift going from one transfer per connection to possibly multiple transfers per connection was massive and took many years until […]

I really wish there was a way to make #opensource again without money and greed poisoning everything. We're just as strong as the weakest link and this washed out culture of calling everything open for marketing puts our society at great risk. Humans must fight to save opensource from extinction.

The open-core as "enterprise" gateway drug trick abusing #opensource labels for VC gains is officially about to be over. What used to take years to write now takes hours and filling the gap between "open core" and "enterprise" features using LLMs is very possible as long as the license allows it ..🧵

In terms of DuckDB Community Extensions statistics, it seem 400-500 downloads/month is basically the zero line (builders, CI, etc?) above which you see real users. There's a big difference between extensions used by a few dozens and few thousands but unfortunately the stats don't tell us where from

Due to stupid regulations, E-Step scooters (aka no pedals) are basically illegal in the Netherlands. But luckily a company named Selana has solved this huge problem! FOR JUST 1900 EUROS you can get a shitty legal scooter with a tag and mirror. What a steal!!! In pre-oder because its NEW TECH 🤣🤣🤣

#Gigapipe is ready for #Grafana12 Drill-Downs! This quite exciting as it completely changes the Grafana game particularly for new users which can now browse around logs, metrics, traces and profiles without typing or knowing much! As always we're the first to support this feat @gigapipe.bsky.social
