The neat thing about using Textured Vegetable Protein for chili is if you think it isn't quite meaty enough, you can just toss in another scoop and set it to slow cook.

Ground beef is getting expensive, so experimenting with textured vegetable protein I got in bulk from Winco. Made taco filling to start. Soaked in hot chicken broth to reconstitute, sautéed yellow onion and garlic, added the protein along with a pack of taco seasoning. Turned out alright.

I think I remember how to make pasta sauce. Sautéed mushrooms. onion and carrots, minced garlic, sautéed then added some tomato paste. Cooked that while browning beef. Combined the beef with the veggies and tossed a can of crushed tomatoes with some Italian seasoning. Turned out alright.
