For the last several nights, sunset here has been at 5:36 pm. I check this almost daily because we try to catch sunset on the rooftop whenever possible. Tonight - a full 15 days before the equinox - sunset is at 5:37. What is happening???

One week from now my kids will be on a plane to visit us in Okinawa and omg, I'm already so excited. I can't wait to share this incredible place with them! There will be noodles! And sashimi! And snorkeling, shisa hunts, kijimuna hunts, and castles. 😍

Today's scam email is for a book that hasn't been published yet. I'm only 70% done with the 1st draft.
But still: "What really stands out is how False Flag feels both exciting and meaningful, balancing themes of courage, justice, and integrity with moments that feel real and emotionally true."

Good morning! It's going to be another gorgeous day here. Sunrise photo taken from my rooftop deck.

I told the priest
Don't count on any second coming
God got his ass kicked
The first time he came down here slumming
He had the balls to come
The gall to die and then forgive us
No, I don't wonder why
I wonder what he thought it would get us

Today could be interesting.
(We live in Yomitan. Our 2 bathtubs and 5 gallon water jug are full. We'll be fine. Good test for typhoon preparedness?)

Lovely sunset colors with the waxing crescent moon tonight from our rooftop.

There is so much more too! Including a list of options at the end. If I were to reply I would choose one not on the list.
E: Fuck off.
I'm so tired of receiving these.

Not sure what is most remarkable about this pitch. That it's based on a book that is only half written, or the fact that they're riffing on a placeholder blurb-1 para that really doesn't say much about the plot. They got all this from a 45 word blurb! For some reason I don't think they're sincere??

Here is a cat and shisa photo. The shisa has an open mouth, which expels bad spirits.

Yesterday (Sunday) was my husband's last day off after a 6 week furlough. We went snorkeling off the Kadena N Seawall steps, where the Hija River meets the East China Sea. This area--Toguchi Beach and the mouth of the river--is where US forces landed on Okinawa 80 years ago.

This thread is hilarious. Also, when we first moved to Okinawa, I bought Japanese ketchup because I wanted to try local brands. When that bottle ran out, with my husband's strong agreement, I picked this up from the local grocery store and promised never to stray again.
