i'm up late and restless. so, while the experience is still fresh on my mind, here's a LOT of words about the HEXA port that i released on friday; and some of the specifics on how i ported it from #playdate to #love2d. i hope it's an interesting read!

like my thought process is that it's a bit of a losing game; the audacity logo is quite literally iconic and it's been around for so long, so i feel like you're going to get a negative reaction out of people for changing it up, no matter how you do it

...it just doesn't help that the new logo sucks

plus, the mac's "home sharing" means that my library's instantly linked up with my other devices on the same network, so i don't really Lose any benefits. then, i can sync my songs up to my phone for off-line play. it's really nice i think!!

it's fun and helps me appreciate individual albums a lot more too; on spotify i basically had one big "jams" playlist that i'd just shuffle into, but having the albums compartmentalized in my library means i'm much more inclined to just give one a rip all the way through, and give other songs a shot

post: i cancelled my music streaming subscription a few months ago, and instead have decided to put that money towards buying an album or two every month. it's been fun sort of "re-discovering" what i apparently classify as the essential albums in my mix, while also getting to own them forever now

i think i'd like to release the PC edition of HEXA on friday (oct 3)? that gives me time to finish adding mission command, and a couple more days to scout for bugs

HEXA report: IT'S GOING WELL!! aside from:
• custom mission creator
• achievements (how will i do those??)
• leaderboards (how will i do those????)
the game is now up to complete parity with the original #playdate version, PLUS bonuses — unlockable colors? controllers? RUMBLE??
