there’s obviously a ton more, but those are basic ones i think everyone should be conscious about. try it sometime. when you’re writing an even slightly ambiguous message to someone, put one of those on the end of the message.

EVERYONE can fail at reading tone over text because not everyone is GOOD at indicating tone over text! so here’s a couple i recommend using:

/j or /s = joking/sarcasm
/hj = half-joking
/gen = geniune (for asking a serious question)
/rh = rhetorical
/nm = not mad
/ref = reference, inside joke etc

if someone says something you don’t like or agree with or the conversation is going in a direction you don’t like, please just explain that or use a tone indicator

trying to use tone via text to convey your feelings is such a risky game and will scare people off or upset people

please for the love of god be conscious of your tone over text

when someone switches from using emojis and stuff to perfect grammar, suddenly using punctuation out of nowhere, conveying a firm tone.
