The buzzwords ("Assault Weapons", "𝘞𝘦𝘈𝘱𝘖𝘯𝘚 𝘖𝘧 𝘸𝘈𝘳" have been incredibly effective at demonizing guns in the eyes of people who are ignorant about them. Not that this had led to anything substantial that might lead to a reduction in gun violence, accidents or suicides.

That sucks, I don't tend to have that problem, but that probably has something to do with being a VERY white guy who looks old enough that I've been given the "senior discount" without even asking.

Probably being in Southern California helps too, masking is unusual here but not unheard of either.
