I'm not making a value judgement on fun I'm saying that Call of Duty is the most cynically designed product first game on the market today. There's not a hint of passion or cohesiveness behind any of the designs, modes or mechanics other than "how many CoDbucks can we convince someone to buy today".

"Call of Duty is borderline to legitimately anti-art for the *nth* year in a row, who could have seen this coming". There's never been a more "this is a product designed to make money" franchise than Call of Duty. It's barely even worth discussing anymore.

Even if it wasn't inherently good (it is!), it fucks me up that a sweaty white dude in an airport cubicle with inscrutable motivations can just be like "no you aren't allowed into our country forever".

Valve literally had to be sued and lose to the Australian Commission for Consumer Affairs before they offered a refund policy. Not even a *fair* refund policy, they *did not have* a refund policy before hand and you would need to beg support if a game didn't behave as expected.
