40 years of @rare.co.uk.

From devoted Rare gamers to single-series stalwarts, we want to show our appreciation for anyone who's visited even just one of our worlds. For keeping an assorted ragtag of creatives working magic in the Midlands, only two words will do: THANK YOU 💙💛
Theatre seating contains a range of characters from Rare games, including Banjo and Kazooie, Conker, Rash from Battletoads, Mr. Pants, Joanna Dark and Elvis from Perfect Dark, Lesedi from Sea of Thieves, Mr. Ribs from Grabbed by the Ghoulies and various Piñatas from Viva Piñata. Some are just sat smiling, while others are getting up to mischief.

You there, look smart, we've got a pair of Reddit highlights for #FanArtFriday coming through and you don't want to be caught looking scruffy, do you? Not for Jenny-Jinya's Conker scene or Ungraceful_Apple's @seaofthieves.com sketch you don't. Everyone's homework is to buy an iron.

Are you a Banjo-Kazooie fan? If so, we want to know your favourite memories of the bird and the bear.

Maybe you grew up with the N64 and GBA games, or loved Nuts & Bolts? Did you go crazy for their crossover appearances? No matter what, they all count.

Some replies will be printed in the magazine.

Your dose of #FanArtFriday for this week consists of a fishy @seaofthieves.com scene from chill_art22 and a careful Humba Wumba by MrGametv1994, both of Twitter/X. Go on, open wide. No, your eyes, weirdo. Hold them open with tape if necessary, 10 minutes stare minimum, they're worth it!

Time for more of our @rare.co.uk crew's favourite Rare things! This time it's Software Engineer David, Head of Community and Communications Christina, Technical Artist Eduardo and Senior Producer John covering things from waves to repetitive rocket launcher-based murder...
A framed picture of a bloke with a dog next to the words "Eduardo Gomez's Favourite Rare Crossover: “I have been playing Super Smash Bros. since the Wii days, and I have many fond memories of it. When Banjo & Kazooie were announced to be joining the roster in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, I was thrilled! I still can't believe we get to play as characters so dear to us in that game!”". A framed image of a man sits to the left of the words "John Nejady's Favourite Rare Game Memory: “Years before I worked at Rare, myself & colleagues at another game studio excitedly downloaded a new game all morning, and as soon as lunchbreak hit we all loaded it up and set sail. We spent the next hour rapt, on edge, and in awe - a completely fresh gaming core memory, across a beautiful sea of unknown mystery and threat. I'm now in my sixth year of working on that very game.”" A framed picture of a woman in front of the Rare Ltd logo. To the right is written: "Christina McFairholme's Favourite Rare Level: “I will forever be obsessed with the level Facility from GoldenEye 007 - specifically, the multiplayer version of the level. Nothing has ever beaten the feeling of dropping down from the air vent in the bathroom, picking up a rocket launcher, and then chasing my brother down the corridor maniacally smashing Z to see him off.”" A framed picture of a chap holding the box of Kinect Sports sits to the left of the words "David Quinn's Favourite Rare Wave: “The first time I saw the crowd wave interaction on the title screen of Kinect Sports. At the time I was working on the camera system and remember the tech director showing me after it was put in for the E3 demo, it was magic. Fast forward 15 years; we caught up at my place, I dusted off the Xbox 360 and Kinect then saw his kids have the same reaction I did. It remains just such a fun, playful, Rare touch.”"
