Yeah, getting old has definitely helped with not caring so much what people think, which has reduced anxiety, which means I don't feel the need to blunt anything with booze. It's been a good while since I quit now and I haven't missed it for a moment.

My main realisation was that I still enjoy doing all the things I used to assume required a drink to be fun just as much. Genuine surprise.
