Fine steel mesh was added to the exterior of this fence to prevent rattlesnakes from being able to get inside, without changing the look of the property.

Western Diamondback rattlesnake found under a staircase at a Scottsdale apartment complex. It was trying to stay hidden, but drew a crowd of curious neighbors. We safely relocated it to a nearby desert wash with plenty of rodents, where it can be left alone.

A Hemphric's Coralsnake and it's mimc, the Black-headed Calico Snake. Both were found on night hikes in the Peruvian Amazon a few years ago.

Not a snake :) But this is one of the common things we see while out looking for snakes at night. Similar to snakes, however, they get a lot of stories about their "aggression" that's all a big misunderstanding.

This little Mojave Rattlesnake is the current hide and seek champion. The homeowners thought that it had disappeared, and Jason was starting to think the same after searching every place in the yard that looked like a snake could be hiding there.

A tiny Mojave Rattlesnake discovered digesting what was likely a lizard on a patio near the Prescott airport. Dane helped it get to a better spot.

A Western Diamondback Rattlesnake found hanging out next to the front door. The house is across the street from an undeveloped area and a wash, which is where it actually lives. Cheyenne helped the snake get to a safe location and released it directly into deep cover.

A Grand Canyon Rattlesnake from northern Arizona. In time, the pattern on this snake may continue to degrade and fade, but not to the same degree as is common for females of the species.

This Ghost Anole was one of many anoles seen on a trip to the high forests of Guatemala.

A big Western Diamondback Rattlesnake that Jeff caught in Queen Creek recently. This is at a new development with a desert-integrated neighborhood, so there will always be at least some random encounters with rattlesnakes.

Homeowner found a baby rattlesnake coiled by the front door. Cool temps in the 60s made it slow and easy to capture safely. We waited until daylight to hike it out and released it into a packrat nest in nearby desert within its estimated home range.

An Ahwatukee homeowner’s dog alerted the family to a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake in a big, shelter-rich yard—likely its winter plan. We captured it, held it overnight, then released it in daylight into nearby desert with good cover and rodent sign for winter.

A Mesa homeowner stepped into the garage and was greeted by a rattlesnake rattle. The snake tucked under an AC unit, with only its tail visible. Corner gaps under the closed garage door gave it easy access. We captured it and moved it to desert habitat with real cover.

This courtyard is now off limits to rattlesnakes :) It didn't lose any of its looks, either, with some careful detail work from Michael on the fence installation team.

A Western Diamondback Rattlesnake protests its capture, not knowing that Josh's next action was to release it into suitable replacement microhabitat that emulated the situation of its capture at a home near Tucson.

A call came in for a large rattlesnake alongside the house. The homeowner used a rake to gently coax the snake into a trash can, and gave us a call. Josh arrived shortly afterward, and transferred the snake into a bucket to be relocated.

Jeff heard there was a rattlesnake spotted at the park near his home and went to see if he could find it. He did - a young Western Diamondback Rattlesnake coiled right against the wall. The snake got a free ride to elsewhere within its estimated home range.

Widespread development in this area has displaced wildlife, which will drive encounters and dangerous situations for years. This Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was already trying to find what it could, and was thankfully found before someone killed it.

This beat up Sonoran Gophersnake was called in as a rattlesnake. Normally, it's easy enough to tell the tail of a rattlesnake from these harmless species, as gophersnakes have a pointed tail. But this one had an accident some time in its past, leaving it with a rounded stump.

A pair of courting Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes in the north valley. Jeff was careful to capture and release them together directly to a deep packrat nest, where they can hopefully continue making little rattlesnakes for next season.

A Sonoran Desert Tortoise resting in the shade in on a hot morning in the Big Horn Mountains of western Arizona. These tortoises become nocturnal during the hottest parts of summer, moving and eating after dark and returning to their deep caves by the time the sun hits the area again.
