New freight operation, the Savage Tooele Railroad; as seen last night a day following the line's opening ceremony. A locomotive is hanging out on the north end of the route framed by the distant Oquirrh Mountains, while track construction continues south down in Marshall.

The Wild Kingdom Train, an amusement ride at Lagoon operated with Crown Metals steam locomotives; has been undergoing changes this year following the announcement of the closure of the long controversial zoo it traveled through.

Fly ash is shipped out of Intermountain Power for other customers in covered hoppers, but this particular car has suffered a derailment that will mark the end of the line for its use in fly ash service. At the time I visited, it sat waiting near the tracks for the end to come. #photography #railfan
