No it isn't for sure. But the standard playground racism was grim. I got the regular beatings that went with it.

Grew up in Grimsby in the 70s and 80s. Town of 100,000 people and no more than about 30 that weren't white.

The racism was relentless.

To be fair lots of people at my school did use racial slurs.

At me.

Every day.

I'm sure many are now ashamed. But if any of them were in senior positions in Reform I suspect they wouldn't be.

At least we've got a Labour govt that isn't stoking up racism with vile policies on refugees.

I will make some predictions too.

Lab will lose dozens of London cllrs

At least three Lab run London councils will go to no overall control or be lost

I've never known so many lifelong Labour people so unhappy with the party. These are all people who stayed Lab post-Corbyn

I've been out canvassing quite a lot in London lately. Labour's vote has absolutely evaporated.... it is quite extraordinary to go to places where Labour were on 50-60% of the vote at the last locals and find nobody, or virtually nobody, supporting them.

Labour have increased the salience of this issue

After 6 months Reform and the far right will say it needs to be tougher

Then Labour will get scared and double down

And thus the Overton Window continues to move to the far right
