Hi BlueSky, I’m Ryan!

I’m an environmentalist, adventurer, photographer, and full-time cat parent that’s hopelessly in love with Earth

While I spend most of my time advocating for the polar regions, there isn’t a single ecosystem on this planet that escapes my interest

I’m not sure what part of destroying public lands, selling the resources to foreign companies, polluting clean water supplies for Alaskans, or destroying a National Park is “America First”

Sorry, but you’d have to be truly fucking stupid to think this project benefits anyone

This administration has approved the Ambler Road Project - a 211 mile PRIVATE road ONLY for heavy machinery to exploit and extract minerals in the fragile Alaskan tundra

It cuts through land of over 40 indigenous tribes, as well as important salmon streams and caribou migration routes

National Parks may be open during this govt shutdown, but I’d advise against visiting

They lack the federal funding and workforce to keep the parks clean and safe.

But - state, city, & other locally funded parks like the Garden of the Gods are equally stunning and worth visiting

Strange rock formations in Colorado, USA

These strange rocks formed over a span of 300 million years

Then, about 70 million years ago, a massive shift in tectonic plates caused these sharp, angular bits of red and pink sandstone to rise from beneath the surface

Originally known as Ho3o’uu Niitko’usi’i in the Arapaho language.

To the Ute people, this is a sacred land, believing the formations to be ancestral beings “frozen” into the rocks, or even the origin of their existence

We left Denver for Salida, our base for the next few days while we endeavoured to explore the Great Sand Dunes NP

But first, we stopped by the Garden of the Gods, hiking through these strange rock formations

Link aggregators mine your (and your audience’s) data, have paywalled features, restricted customisation, and SEO limitations

If you already have a website…why not turn your contact page (or even add an unlisted page) into your own “link in bio?”

Haha that’s exactly what we did.

We were up early to do some hikes through Garden of the Gods on our way down to Salida the next morning!

Ahh that's awesome! Badlands NP is one of the few I've not been to...very excited to know that there are prairie dogs there too!

All my visits to Denver have been solely to go to Red Rocks haha. This was the first time I've actually been exploring around the city. I just wish I had more than one day!

These images were from The Arsenal. We only had an hour or so during midday, so not the best. If I'd known we were checking it out that day...definitely would have petitioned for a longer stay haha

We did see some, but even at 600mm, they were still just a little speck on the camera!

They definitely looked like they were having tons of fun!

Upon landing in Denver, we had some time to kill before check in

With nothing better to do, we head out for an unsuccessful search for bison - where we instead found a field, swarming with black-tailed prairie dogs

Waking up at 5am is never fun, but when the rising sun casts a soft glow through the Namibian coast, you go looking for #flamingoes

With this, we’ve basically reached the end of my Namibia adventures. I can finally share what I’ve been up to in the #PublicLands of Southwestern USA this past summer!

Nearly two months on #Linux!

I can comfortably say that I’ll never use Windows over Linux again, but I still can’t make the switch for my professional workflow

There are just too many programs on MacOS that straight up don’t exist or don’t have a good alternative on Linux, but man, we’re SO close

In the middle of the tallest dunes in the world is a white clay pan - Deadvlei

One of the driest places on earth, dry enough that for nearly a thousand years, nothing has been able to survive long enough to decompose these trees

Haha definitely! We parked on the other end of the lot and my friend walked with such confidence I assumed it was the right way 😂

Unfortunately that was before I was a proper photographer, but I just paid Delicate another visit this last summer and got some stuff I’m happy with!
