That’s not quite correct. These days, the important part is contact with the ball. Even if slight, or glancing. Contact with an opposing player following contact with the ball can be legitimate. Only if a player scores and then you clatter them, should the referee overlook said infraction. Imho!

If you watched #motd you also would have heard no less than Wayne Rooney pronounce it a penalty. I’ll always defer to a player of that stature. I might not always know what I’m talking about. But he certainly does…

Yes, that was a bit clumsy, but Kim Cotton did say that (that) was the attitude of other people. So not necessarily hers. I thought overall she spoke a lot of sense and has helped a lot of people over the years.
