I'll start: I think it's silly how obsessed developers of brand-new applications with no users yet are with running code "at the edge," reading from replicas, and otherwise prematurely optimizing performance.

I used to always think as I was tinkering that perhaps my ideas would become widely adopted and that would be good. Now I fear that any good idea I have, if it were to be widely adopted, would be co-opted for some horrific purpose.
