Don't feel that you have to run a scopically-huge game your first run out, or even your tenth. Get the feel of flow-of-play for your game(s) of choice and for how you like to handle/run things. Trying to run before you know how to walk can end up with your head going through the coffee table.

Just gotta get it in their hands and get them pumped for it. Making sure someone with enthusiasm for and knowledge of the product helps them get it in hand is the way you make sure it stays in their hand until they hit the counter.
