I don't suppose telling these particular councillors that they may need to seek other, better qualified persons from outside their blinkered viewpoint to more productively tackle the work as current incumbents are woefully mismatched to the tasks needed to be done, efficiently, will be very welcome.

I'm a slightly happier, older guy.
Partly this came about, when young, by respecting older people's longer life experience & reciprocating genuine enthusiasm whenever evident.
I do still indulge my love for novelty & exploring but try not to condescend upon younger people with advice, criticism etc.
