Wow - this guy must be really, REALLY bad with money if an extra £208 per month will “ruin” his retirement.

Let’s take a look at his situation based on what he told the @Telegraph

Because this does NOT add up!

No, this is not a “poor pensioner” scrabbling around for pennies…

Dismal framing. Every aspect of most asylum seekers’ lives is controlled & paid for by the Home Office. They can’t work, are told where to live & have no autonomy or dignity. So they aren’t *choosing* to use taxis & don’t need to be “banned” from doing so. The HO just needs to get its act in order.

In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu lies dreaming. I focus on my dreamwatcher machine, making minute adjustments in all five dimensions.

The Great Old One whimpers, vast limbs twitching in unease. What visions can terrify such an entity?

An image forms in the machine.

A classroom.

No trousers.

Bazball is all well and good, but what is the point of liking Test cricket when the team you support steadfastly refuse to play it?

Finally Nathan Gill makes it to the top of the news feed. Who wants to bet that "attack by an Afghan migrant in Nuneaton" will be the main front page story for the Right wing press tomorrow though..?

Look, I think people are being unfair here to Sam Altman - Tyler Cowen clearly said he was asking the "stupidest question", so what else was he supposed to do but give the stupidest answer...?

It's not the feet of clay need to look out for, but the brains of clay...
I laughed at loud. These people are so pathetic; our enemies are numbskulls. They will kill us all and still not know hs physics.

COWEN: The stupidest question possible: Why don’t we just make more GPUs?

ALTMAN: Because we need to make more electrons.

One of the things that the “immigration debate” in the UK really reveals is how little people actually know about how other people live. So much of immigration policy fails to work, even on its own terms, because it’s trying to solve problems that mostly exist in peoples heads

John's not wrong
Still the coolest.
Four decades back a major label released a debut album that sounded like almost nothing on earth while still sounding incredibly familiar. Our man in San Francisco Ned Raggett takes stock of it all

Ro has a point
At the end of the day, the vast majority Labour MPs have been absolutely fine with people being burned alive in tents, shot whilst queuing for meagre food aid, being denied energy and clean water, kids being shot in the genitals as sport and wounded children in ambulances being hit by 335 rounds.

There is absolutely nothing old or consolidated about *multiracial, pluralistic democracy* in America. It only started 60 years ago.

And the conflict over whether or not it should be allowed to endure and prosper has been the central fault line in U.S. politics ever since.
