The creation of DemComm tasked it with addressing specific organizational flaws which the Omnibus fails to adequately address. Instead, after struggling to make quorum to finalize the omnibus, Commissioners ask to be reseated again with no election.

Treating the Omnibus as an indivisible whole is entirely misleading. Each plank was added individually, and the end result is the product of horse-trading, not grand political synthesis. Delegates were prevented from considering its planks separately.

As we did in 2023, we oppose NPC expansion. The NPC's problems are not structural – they are political. The body already struggles to make quorum and schedule meetings, and expansion exacerbates these issues.

Red Star recommends delegates support a motion to divide the question on the DemComm Omnibus to separate NPC Expansion and DemComm rechartering from other planks, and vote those two items down while passing the rest of the omnibus together.

3/ GDC activity also hit a historic high w/ nearly 60 active members (!!) organizing training & resource libraries, running membership drive trainings to boost the Zohran bump, & publishing new member stats so chapters can better understand their org.

3/ GDC activity also hit a historic high w/ nearly 60 active members (!!) organizing training & resource libraries, running membership drive trainings to boost the Zohran bump, & publishing new member stats so chapters can better understand their org.
2/ As a direct result of these reforms the GDC saw the highest rate of new member admissions in recent history - more growth than in five of the prior six quarters combined. It also saw a massive uptick in applications, more than in any quarter since the last convention!

Megan cut her teeth doing mutual aid during hurricanes Laura and Delta in Southwest Louisiana and currently serves as a DSA National Co-Chair. Red Star is running Megan for re-election for Co-Chair so she can continue breaking barriers between members, chapters, and national DSA!

John is a lifelong southern organizer who served as chapter co-chair of Baton Rouge DSA and currently serves on the NPC as treasurer. He wants to continue connecting members, keeping comrades informed and growing DSA to be the mover of working class politics for all people!

Andrew has served as Co-Chair of DSA SF, where he helped lead the victorious Empty Homes Tax campaign and the charge to revamp DSA SF’s budgeting process. Andrew also helps deliver the GDC’s “State of DSA” reports, analyzing membership recruitment and retention across DSA.
