6 yrs of ⬆️ rents + ⬇️ eviction prevention 💲 means more kids than ever are homeless. We're grateful to see Sen. Hettleman @vaughnstewart.bsky.social + DHCD's bill go into effect soon to prevent evictions of families of kids in community schools. We need more than $5M/yr to prevent youth homelessness.

You have rights – and starting TODAY (July 1st), your landlord will be required by the state to inform you of them! New leases will come with an 8pg document, called the 'Tenants Bill of Rights'. This is a huge step forward for making sure tenants know their rights while we fight to expand them!

The housing crisis continues, and our legislators fail to act. Unhoused persons seeking shelter DOUBLED in 2024, but Gov. Moore and our elected officials cut eviction prevention funds by 50% and refused to pass Good Cause Eviction which has been proven to reduce evictions.

below the headline of the article, there is a photo of two tents in a grassy area. A screenshot of a story in the baltimore banner - the headline reads 'Twice as many Baltimoreans needed an emergency shelter in the last 2 years'

the quote from the story says "The number of people using Baltimore’s emergency shelter system for overnight stays has doubled in the last two years, the latest city data shows, and Baltimore’s homeless services director is pointing the blame at two main culprits: A loss of funding designed to prevent evictions and the soaring costs of renting and owning a home.

More people in Baltimore experienced homelessness for the first time in 2024 compared to the year before, the data shows. And Baltimore is roughly half as successful at placing people in housing as the national average."

MD renters made the @marylandmatters.org session 2025 winners/losers list – for the wrong reason! Renters lost this session because of the Senate’s commitment to siding with landlords + developers.

That’s why we must build our movement and come back better than ever in 2026! Join us bit.ly/JoinRUM

There are only 4 days left of the 2025 MD session! HB767 would ensure that renters get notice of the time/date of their eviction.

Call JPR Chair Smith NOW (410-841-3634) & ask him to bring HB767 up for a vote TODAY! Tenants facing eviction shouldn't wonder when the sheriff will be at their door.
a bright yellow banner at the top has dark blue text that reads "time is running out" next to the text there is an alarm clock with lightning bolts coming out of the sides.

Below, white and yellow text on a dark blue background reads "Renters need adequate notice of their eviction! Tell Senate JPR Committee Chair Will Smith to bring HB767 up for a vote! Call him: 410-841-3634

Only a few days left of the 2025 Maryland legislative session! The Senate must pass HB767 – to require tenants are given at least 7 days notice of their eviction. Tenants facing eviction should AT LEAST know when it's happening.

Over 30 local lawmakers across Maryland sent this letter to members of the state Senate JPR Committee, calling for passage of Good Cause Enabling SB651 — WITHOUT amendments creating preemptions, especially related to vacancy control.
